Review - Kershaw Knockout

Overall the Knockout is quite nice, especially the blade. The only real issue was with "extraction" which had 3 contributing factors. One was the lack of grip provided by the handle texture. This is solved by skateboard grip tape as noted above. Not elegant but functional. The second issue was the very tight grip of the pocket clip. A little bending and... just right. Finally, the thumb studs. They would often snag on my pocket making deployment less than smooth and I don't use them as the flipper is quicker/easier.

I wrote to Kershaw seeking advice on how to remove them, including in my letter that I understood this would probably void my warranty and that was fine with me. They replied in a few days; "Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Unfortunately we are not able to recommend a way to remove the thumbstud because we do not recommend this type of modification for any of our products. Please let me know if you have any additional questions." . Fair enough. So I removed them anyway. Extraction is now smooth and fluid. I think the knife looks better too. Oh, and it takes a super sharp edge.

Picked up a Knockout in a trade, fit finished blade was excellent, but I keep going back to BM(axis) & Spyderco(hole) more comfortable for me. Not putting Kershsaw down they great knives but the other works for me. Gary

Just bought a Kershaw, my first. I notice that they make a large number of essentially identical models with different blade metals and minor grip variations.

Seems to be a good basic design though, wouldn't have bought it otherwise. It's healing the pain of misplacing my Mcusta.
