I've considered a neck knife purchase. Mainly because this is a design that I don't have. However, I've reached the point with knives where I don't buy anything I can't get at least a little use out of.

That being said, I'm interested in everyone's impressions and what they use their La Griffe for.

Thanks,
Clay

AC23, I Use my La griffe for carry only. Carried with the bead chian around the neck (never use strong cord as you are asking to be strangled with your own device). I also made a leather loop that when the chain is removed the hole is used to fasten the leather loop for inside the waist band carry. When I first saw the La Griffe I quickly understood the capabilities of this little gem of a knife. Something about it obviously caught your eye, so I say go and buy the knife, it will grow on you.
If you don't like it, heck i'll buy it from ya!!! :D

Butcher,

You're right, I had pretty much made up my mind on a La Griffe purchase before I made the post. I do have a coulple of questions:

Are there any links that would teach someone how to cord wrap the handle?

Where can I find a good price on one of these gems? My usual outlets don't have them instock?

Thanks for the great help guys!

I ordered one for a customer and was told four to six months was the average wait time, at least through my distributor.

I don't actually use mine either. You're supposed to carry fixed blades on your belt in CA so I put a small Tek-lok on mine and it's very nice for belt carry. Most belt knives with Tek-loks can be set up to be drawable into a useable grip with either hand, but the Griffe, because of the design, can only be drawn one way or the other. That's a pretty big limitation, as is the length of the blade. Basically, I don't carry mine much, but it is such a neat little knife that I haven't been able to part with it.

Cord wrapping them is sort of self-explanatory - just start with a simple loop at the finger hole that leaves both ends free and wrap one end around either side of the handle until the two ends of the cord meet at the back end of the knife and tie the ends together. This is the kind of knife that doesn't really look right with a fancy wrapping job.

Send me an e-mail and I will send a pic of how I wrapped mine.

I saw the La Griffe in a store today, I was NOT impressed, for $65, I'd buy something less flimsy. The La Griffe is pretty damn thin 154cm steel, and I'd be aftaid to break it...I'll stick to the cold steel FGX for SD, they are cheap and I dont care if I break them. That and the FGX series cuts suprisingly well...
