I'm looking for some user feedback on the newer Gerbers, specifically the Spectre and Airframe.

The Spectre appears to be an EDI Genesis knockoff. True?

How about the Airframe? Similar to the Spectre?

Thanks!
Sid

Spectre is not an EDI knock off. It has got a similar blade shape, but the handle is different. There isn't anything terribly unique about a spearpoint blade. And the Spectre is smaller I believe. 3.5" (I think) compared to a 4" blade on the EDI.

The Spectre construction looks pretty similar to the EDI to my eye. Shaping the liners for a different profile would be very easy for either Gerber of EDI. Perhaps my eye sees something that is not there but, from the angle of the picture and what I have seen in magazines, the two are constructed in a very similar way, apparently after the same market segment.

Thanks,
Sid

In my opinion, both are relatively ordinary looking spearpoint blades on a dual titanium linered knife. Nothing special. I don't see it as a knock off. Appealing to the same market segment? Such as "knife users"?

The EDI also has notches ground into the liners near the rear bottom and front top (for thumb ramp). The Spectre has the thumb ramp on the blade, not the handle. Looks similar from that angle, but I'm sure there are real differences if you look at it opened and locked (which I haven't done yet for the Spectre, but I owned an EDI before I gave it to my brother).
