Anybody ever buy a knife, get rid of it because you're underwhelmed only to buy another later and love it? Funny how a small change can make a huge difference and how our tastes change.

I've owned a Kershaw Knockout in the past and liked the knife well enough, but never really adopted it into rotation so I traded it. I recent purchase the Elmax variant from a BF member and it hasn't left my pocket since I got it. Partly I think because I like the brown anodizing better than the plain Jane black, but also because my tastes have changed and I simply enjoy the model more than I did in the past.

What knives have you revisited and found a greater appreciation for?

I keep a Kershaw Select Fire in the tool bin under the seat of my '76 BMW R75/6. It was a gift from the brother in law which I never really took to. I pulled it out for a task the other day and found I really liked it. Don't know what had changed, but I'm now tempted to start carrying it. Maybe it's a Kershaw thing.

I think I get a pretty good feeling for knives the first time, but it has happened. I hope it happens sometime down the line with a Sebenza.

I've regretted selling knives and bought them again, affirming my regret. I recently got a Chokwe and definitely see why I regretted selling it, wonderful knife.

The Leek is like that.

It's an underwhelming carry, but when you finally give it away to somebody, you soon find that you need a replacement.

There's nothing special about it. It just happens to be very useful and easy on the pocket when you pack it.

I agree. The leek is probably one of my top 5 favorites. I gave mine to my dad this last Christmas and would like to find an Elmax variant to replace it. I always liked the leek though, whereas my appreciation for the knockout grew or at least changed over time.

The only one I've ever done it is with the ZT 0566. I just couldn't get comfortable with the flipper (it was probably user error) and got rid of it. A few months later the BW version came out and I gave it another chance. I don't carry it much, but I like it a lot more than I did the first go 'round.

A year ago I sold my A100 and Mini A100, because I needed the money and I felt like I didn't really need them in my collection. I recently spent far too much effort and money to replace them. On the other end of the price spectrum, I gave my SRM 605 to a friend, and since moving to Boston (where I like to oblige the 2.5" limit if I can) I've been carrying smaller knives. I love the SRM 605, it is an amazing knife for ~$10. It's like a cheaper, slimmer, liner-lock version of the Spyderco Dragonfly.
