This snow / cold period turned into staying home from work and catching up on some things .
Got a chance to look at my " working edge " on the ol' REX121 with the jeweler's visor . . .
The edge has not been used all that hard but never touched up since my first reprofile above at the start of this thread.
The performance while slicing and cutting most stuff has felt great and I didn't think about the edge . I mean this is a highly wear resistant material in a knife that has not been used all that much .
The test on the back of my finger nail . . . now that was telling me things were not OK , no "Stupid Sharp sinking into the nail and some slight skating like feeling with a curl rather than the decisive CATCH on the surface of the nail . Draw cutting across the flat of the nail felt smooth . . .

Must have been why she was still slicing
but was push cutting like a porcupine . 
Had to make my sharpening angle a degree or so perside less acute (as you recall we started with my "preposteranious " wide bevel reprofile . Got to push the envelope ; see where those boundaries really are . . .
On the Edge Pro worked through a progression from Jende Diamond Resin 15 micron , Diamond Matrix 4000 ~ 5 micron (spent extra time here to clean up scratches from previous stone , then Diamond film 8000 ~ 3 micron and finally just a few light stropping passes on brand new finish side cow hide with 1 micron diamond dust ( tiniest bit in relatively a lot of water ; the lightest haze applied with finger tip ).
= serious mirror ; somewhat tree topping .
Sinks into back of thumb nail a little in that reassuringly sick way .
hmmmm we will see how that does . Oh well ; there is always my M4 waiting in the wings ready to shoulder in and say : Watch and learn young tyro ; watch and learn. . .
