I am trying to find out the ranks/ratings of the Gurkha Regiments past and present. I would like them from the days of the East India Co. when the Regiments first started to the Royal Gurkha Rifles of today.
Thanks for any help.

Gee, thanks so much for volunteering me, Uncle! Here are *five* links.

I spent some enjoyable time today in the Gurka's.com link.
Checked out some news of Nepal and looked at some nice pix and read some nice stories.
One mentioned the place called Ghorepani and how beautiful it was there.

Thanks, Guys, for your help. Left message at gurkhas.com. Just doing some reading there helped a great deal, especialy the history of the Gurkha's dealings with John Co. I really appreciate that link, Rusty.

You are quite welcome, Catton. Serendipity is wonderful, isn't it?

Hello Catton,

If you have not done so already, you might also want to check the Khukuri FAQ (Uncle Bill's, Yvsa's, and Rusty's posts, among others all have links to it) compiled by forum member Howard Wallace. The "Gorkha (or Gurkha)" section has a list of the current (as of early 1990s) rankings in a Gorkha battalion in the Indian Army.

Hope that helps. Happy New Year!
