Well I got my 2nd RHK XM 18 yesterday, and she's a beautiful Skinner. My first is a Sig Sauer Legion. I have a question though. On my Legion and other gen 4's I've seen there is a sleeve that goes over the stop pin that's not there on my new one, maybe the previous owner took it apart and lost it? I've emailed RHK and haven't heard back yet, Anyone know where I may be able to get one. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

None of my xm-18s have a sleeved stop pin. Is there something wrong with the lockup of your latest knife which makes you think something is missing?

No sleeves.

You're probably thinking something is missing because the Gen 4 stop pins rattle when you shake the knife about - they are not press fit into the holes. To stop the rattle just put some loctite on it while you reassemble the knife.

The lockup was tight and a bit sticky, however it is improving. The reason is because both are XM 18's that are Gen 4's and have two completely different sized stop pins. My Legion XM is amazing and has the bigger pin that rattles, not worried at all on that one. It's the other one that had the sticky lock as well as the smaller pin. Just don't want to be doing any damage to the knife. Thanks you guys on the answers. I'm going to email Rob Orlando @ RHK today and see if I can get a response, as I've not gotten a response from RHK about the issue.

Rob is out this week so it might be next week before he gets back to you!

Have they updated these recently? Received a new skinner two weeks ago and changed scales today. I noticed that my stop pin was stepped on each side. I don't think it was a sleeve over the pin because it seemed solid but I could be wrong. Next time I have it apart I'll look a little harder and snap some pics.

It is one solid piece. The sound people were hearing was the fact it was rattling in the liner hole as it was not all the way in. It is actually a very easy fix when it happens.

Thanks. So when did they start stepping them? I have an older gen 4 that is not stepped.

We became a dealer in May of 2015 and I have not seen one come through my shop that was not stepped. I will ask next time I talk to someone at Hinderer and see what I can find out!

3" version is stepped too.

What do you call this recessed part of the lock side(I know what it does just don't know what it's called) and when did they start putting the diagonal "grooves?" "Jimping?" "Texture?" Not sure what that's called either, lol.

I would call that lock bar relief milling. They made the milling a specific pattern because previously it was all over the place and left something to be desired aesthetically.

The lock bar relief textured pattern actually started right around the time I became a dealer. A lot of people assumed it was the difference in Gen 3 and gen 4 XM-18s but they started it after the Gen 4s came out. So there are Gen 4s out there with it and with out it.
