This probably belongs in feedback, but im posting it in general because there are so many people who love knives, but don't know how to sharpen them, well Richard J. is the answer with his magic paper wheels. I sent Richard a cqc-8 that was just messed up that edge was horrible, and I also sent him a 550. I mailed the knives out monday and just got them back today. Richards turn around time is amazing, He had my knives back in the mail to me the day he got them. This is not the first time I've dealt with Richard he is a class act of a guy, and I enjoy talking knives with Richard just as much as i enjoy getting those razor sharp edges he puts on all my knives for me. It really is hard to find someone like Richard today who can put an edge on a knife like he can, and at his price your basically just paying for the shipping on the knives you send him. This has been posted alot but i'm putting it in genereal so everyone can know what kind of a guy he is . I can put a nice edge on knives, but after reading some posts on the forums I bought some diamond stones and those diamonds screwed my edge all up, so off to Richard they went now they are back in my hands razor sharp edge. So If any of you new guys who need a good sharpening service I challenge you to find a better knife sharpener than Richard J. especially at his price point. I was gonna invest in one of those high dollar guided systems but no need as long as Richard J. is willing to Sharpen my knives, they will be going to him, he really is a class act. ]This may get moved to feedback but mods please leave this for people needing a good sharpening serviceThere is a question everyday of someone needing a knife sharpened not only will Richard do it for cheaper than anyone I have seen, but Richard would rather teach someone how to sharpen their own knives then to sharpen your knives for you. I challenge anyone to find someone who can put the kind of edge Richard puts on a knife at the same price point. Richard and I have spoke over the phone everytime I have sent him a knife and everytime he is giving me tips and helping me "hone " my abilities.....pun intended. Anyone with even a question about how to sharpen their knives just shoot him an e-mail, he's more than happy just to give advice, It's not about the money with this guy he has a genuine love for knives, and he can put an edge on a knife that will rival any "hand sharpened" knife I have seen. Don't believe me??? check him out for yourself. I am in no way affiliated with Richard J. what so ever I discovered him here on the forums and sent him a few knives, I'm just posting this to help out some of the guys who always need a knife sharpened but don't wanna spend a crazy amount of money just to get their blades to be hair whittling sharp.

He's a great guy, I sent him a case 631011 pruner which has a hawkbill that is just a pain to sharpen and a modified svord yeomen which he did a convex on. Amazing edges.

the cqc-8 i just got back from him is sharper than when it came from emerson, I also sent him a 550, and it too is hair whittling sharp, I could of done this my self but for the price i'd rather just send them off to richard.

I had my cqc-15 reground by a famous person known for their regrinds, and my stock cqc -8 is sharper than my reground cqc-15 if that tells you anything.

Do you guys who use Richard J's services find you can maintain the edge yourself after getting it back or do you send it again when it gets dull?

i maintain my edges, I only send them to him if they are just jacked up and are gonna take awhile to get them back right.

Does Richard j also do a good job on tips? I have a couple knives I want to sharpen and bring back the point.Sometimes sharpening has the tendency to round a tip.

Richard can do it all. The guy is a beast. I hope he never stops sharpening, his customer service and turnaround time are like none I've ever seen. Helluva guy!!

Just got off the phone with Richard. I had a few questions and he was more than happy to spend time talking and giving me some great advice!
