Richard J designed and made this knife for me! He has been constantly talking up this 1075 steel! He probably thinks im a jackass for blowing all kinds of money on all these different knives with these exotic steels. Then half the time I send them along to him because I know he can get them even sharper than the factory edges. So he made this knife for me I think to kinda prove a point to me. You can take all the exotic steels you want but if you dont treat them properly and sharpen them well you re wasting good steel I guess. So he says watch what I can do with some basic old 1075 steel. I think hes contemplating making a batch of these for sale! So let us know what you think?! Yes I know im a dumbass! lol
Blade is about 3 inches, handle might be a little longer? Made up with a kydex sheath for neck carry if you so desire!

Really good scotch and really sharp knives don't mix!! :D

That is badass! I want one to shave with. That baby looks shaaaaaaaaarp. I'd definitely in if Richard decides to make any more

Nice looking straight razor type knife! I have a mix of the fancy new steels and the regular carbon steels, I like how easy the carbon blades are to sharpen.

Not usually a fixed blade girl but that one looks pretty neat. I just like the old razor look as well.
I want one.

Yep, RichardJ made this one for me too. I dunno what he did to the edge but when it came it didn't feel that sharp. I wiped the edge with a rag and the durn thing went through and bit me. :o

His 1075 is pretty good too. I don't wanna name brands but Richard's knife actually held an edge better than a knife with S30V and another with 154CM when I sharpened dirty wooden stakes for sight lines.

Here's the bite. I was bleeding like a stuck pig but some of my carpenters took some weeds and crushed them and applied it on the bite. I kid you not, the bleeding stopped while I watched. The edge of the wound are so clean that in a couple of minutes, they look like their starting to heal.

Since I watched Richard sharpen mine in front of me and we tested the edge by cutting the fingers off of a kevlar glove, I have never gotten my fingers near it. I like my fingers too much for that.

Yarrow and partridge berry are both excellent natural coagulants.

I like the looks of the knife, just yesterday I was contemplating a similar simple fixed blade in 1080, just to see how sharp I could get it.

i sharpen a lot of production knives and hardly anybody gets cut (even though i get them as sharp as they possibly can but without making the edge a "novelty edge") but when i send someone a knife i make, they get cut. i wonder if i need to get some of that "weed" and send it along with the knives i make? :D

singularity, when are you going to put some water buffalo horn on that knife? all you need to do is cut out 2 pieces (and make sure they have 2 flat sides) and epoxy them into place. since i skeletonized the handle, there is no need for pins. just make sure to rough up the backside with at least a 40 grit. you can put pins in for looks if you want to.

I'm just lazy these days Richard, did you ever get the horn I sent through that filipino guy that we arranged?

yes i did. i thought i told you about getting it. i'm waiting until i make a knife worthy of putting some of that horn on. i have a big bowie i need to finish up and i was going to put some california redwood burl on but now i might put some water buffalo horn on instead. here is a link to it, let me know if you think it would look good. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=828990

Oh yeh, that's a sure sign I'm getting old, hehehe.

Looks good with that bigger clip on the point. Makes the point more useful too, IMHO. I know you can make it work with the horns.

It really is amazing the performance he gets out of that steel. A good heat treat and good edge geometry go a long way.
I've got a neck knife on the way from him. I can't wait. I just hope I don't cut my throat carrying it.

Yeah im almost afraid to touch the damn thing now!! RJ how about a knife with that blade shape but about 5 inches and a nice handle with a guard?!! Then I could do a video like Cold Steel and cut animals in pieces and stuff!! lol!

That would be one heck of a cutting tool. I'd like to see one.
