Get yourself fixed and when you get back and ready, know that there are a few of us out here wanting knives. You need to get back to work soon.
Take care.

Had to bump this one and give props to Richard J and his 1075. The little guy a I spent the day at his home and hacked away at a big chunk of Ash he had set up in his back yard with his K2.

It was still shaving sharp after several good hard whacks into the Ash, and then he cut the finger off of a kevlar glove.

Oh yeah, he also sent us home with a couple couple of those Pitbulls.... Great name for an awesome little knife for sure.
Thank you so much Richard!

Looks super nice. I'm a huge fan. :)

Hope everything goes back together well for you Richard. I've had to be put back together a few times myself. :o Thoughts and prayers as always.

today was my 53rd birthday and i had the most fun teaching what i learned over the years of sharpening knives and making them. i hope after my surgery that i feel well enough before the snow files to have ric and his son back down again. i want to pass on what i have learned to the next generation and i cant wait to teach ric and his son what i know. it would be so neat to be able to teach ric and his son how to make a knife and for his son to be able to actually sell the second knife he ever made (he would keep the first for sure).

Happy Birthday Richard!

And thanks for showing my buddy Ric and his son such a great time! Gus is a great kid and I think he will remember today for the rest of his life.

Again, Happy Birthday and hope all goes well and your back to making knives again soon.

Be well!

Paul

Happy birthday! Hope it's been a great one. I subscribe to the belief that a properly souled blade needs a baptism in blood, and handmade ones haven't had that yet. The factory ones may have already gotten their baptism (or else don't have souls), whereas handmade ones usually haven't. I'm more comfortable sending out blades that have bit me already, since those may not bite their new owners :D I'd love to make it out and learn some sharpening from you.

crimsonfalcon07, if you are willing to travel to ohio, i'll be glad to teach you all i can. a buddy has a b&b that his daughter runs and they usually give any member that wants to stay overnight in their b&b a good deal. i want to pass on all i have learned and managed to remember over the years (and my memory is getting bad).

cncpro11 posted pictures of 2 neckers i made but they needed fine tuned (for cosmetic reasons and heat treat not quite up to my standards on the top one but still good enough to cut well) before i would have considered selling them but they will serve ric and gus for a long time

So RJ did I officially name your knife? "The Pitbull"!? I think its perfect! Happy belated man! You didnt tell me it was your bday when we were talking the other night?! Perhaps it was the white lightning you were drinkin! LOL! I know you have some more health stuff ahead but when you get all better I have a great idea for a version of the Pitbull that ll put Cold Steel to shame!! BTW I still can't buy a CS! Am I a knife snob now or do they just suck? lol

I think it's perfect, when he mentioned the name to me I knew exactly what he was talking about.

So, have you used them enough to get any wear on the edge yet? I use mine daily and I can't seem to dull it.

mack, the top knife is made from some 1/8" 1075 and the bottom knife is a bi metal power hacksaw blade with m 3 laser welded to the edge. you can see the line about 1/4" up from the edge. i'm curious to see which edge holds up the best. everyone that checks out the neckers i made from the 1075 say they are sharper than the ones i made from m 4 or the bi metal blade with m 3 even though they will all shave hair and cut you bad if you mess up :D.

Richard,
Heal first! That is the biggest concern. Then we will pester you for knives. I will be trying to get a little beasty like Singularity35's when you are well and healed.
Take Care
Rick

i have one i ground last year (and a few others) that needs heat treated. send me an email and i'll send you some pictures.
