Just a quick post to give a shout out and kudos to Richard J.
Richard's stellar reputation on this forum is well-known and, more importantly, well-deserved. I recently sent two of my Spydie's (Endura4/ZDP-189 and Delica4/VG-10) to Richard for sharpening. I am a relative novice when it comes to sharpening and after personally messing up both of these knives trying to sharpen them myself, I sent them to Richard for re-profiling and sharpening. The knives arrived back at my house today sharper than they have ever been. Awesome job, Ricardo!
What's more, Richard's customer service is nothing short of amazing. How I wish every company would put into practice his brand of customer service.
I sent my knives to Richard last Weds, Feb 29, and I received them back today, Mar 5. That is a mere five day turnaround from start to finish: four of those days were shipping and one was a Sunday.
Here is just one example of Richard's exemplary customer service: within 30 minutes of receiving my knives, Richard called to let me know he had them and we reviewed what I wished to have done to them (the tracking confirmation showed my knives were delivered to Richard at 12:06pm Friday; Richard called me at 12:36pm Friday!). Richard then called me at 1:45pm Friday to let me know he was leaving for the post office to send my knives back me (just slightly over an hour after receiving them!). He then called me at 5:57pm Friday to let me know the knives had been shipped (and also to just chat about the merits of the paper wheel sharpening system and where I could purchase a grinder and the wheels for myself).
At 12:15pm today, Richard called to let me know he forgot to email my tracking information but that he had checked tracking on my package and it was "out for delivery", so I should expect to receive it today. Sure enough, a couple of hours later the package was delivered and I had my knives back in my hands (or rather, my pockets!).
I would recommend Richard and his sharpening services to anyone on this board without reservation.
Way to go, Richard!
