Here are a couple of knives I just finished.

A sleeveboard with tip bolsters and jigged bone:

and a sowbelly with elephant ivory:

Very nice. Thanks for posting them here. I love the tipped bolsters. I don't think I've seen those on a custom knife before.

What are the sizes and the steel used for both?

Wow! Outstanding, Richard. I'm fond of that little sleeveboard myself but just wait until a certain unnamed moderator gets a gander at that sowbelly.

Wonderful sleeveboard. I agree with Mike about the tipped bolsters, they're a nice touch.

I was thinking the same thing.

A pair of great knives, there Richard.

Why don't you send that sowbelly to me for further inspection? ;)

Really glad to see you displaying your work here with us.

Beautiful knives. Love the tips on the sleeveboard and the sheaf like shield on the sowbelly is a nice touch

VERY nice knives Richard. Impressive work. I hope to be able to get something like that one day. Frankly I think I'd be a far better candidate to test out that sowbelly than that dodgy Blues bugger. ;) :)

.

They are both beauties but I am seriously drawn to the sleeveboard.
Very nice work.

Both knives are knockouts! I particularly like the blades on that sowbelly.

I am relatively new to slipjoints so pardon me if this has been asked before. What do you call the shield on the sowbelly? I don't believe I've ever seen that one before.

It was almost standard for sowbellys back in the day - so you sometimes see it actually called a "sowbelly shield" -- but a lot of us call it a swimsuit shield - it's shaped just like one of the old pinup one piece swimsuits (assuming a lady with very healthy endowments).

Great explanation Dwight!

The swimsuit was exactly what came to mind when I saw it. Thanks for the education.
