Richard Rogers: Custom Knives

Nice set of knives going to the show. Good luck!

I personally like the half-congress. I assume it was a bit of trouble going together?

That sucker fought me every step of the way. Seemed like every time I looked at it there was some problem. It took forever to fit in all three positions, I screwed up a gorgeous set of pink mother of pearl scales trying to fit them, it went on and on..... I finally got it beaten into submission. :) I'm going to have to sell it with a notice that it's evil. I'm sure it will cut the new owner.

The next knife went together beautifully. Only a single blade, but it only took two tries to get it fitted!!!! Some knives want to go together, others.....

Richard, it appears that you are unaware of official bladeforums policy wherein and whereby all stockman, cattle and sowbelly patterns must be sent to me for extensive examination and scrutiny (some of which can take a really long time). I'll give you a pass this time as you might have overlooked the rules as often happens, but let's not let this become a habit.

;)

Fantastic knives as always! :cool::thumbup:

Beautiful work! Do you have any closeups or bigger photos of the red jigged bone on that stockman? I love it!

Here's a closer pic. It's Catalina mahogany jigged bone from Culpepper. The picture makes it look a little more red than it actually is.

I love a stockman pattern that has all the nicks placed so you can directly open all the blades right handed, no fiddling about. Lovely knife.

if you get some lamps that dont emit a yellow light it will increase the look of your pics 100 fold...good lighting, but not over exposed will increase the sharpness of your pics too.

That is a really nice folder, I have really been taken by pearl but scared to carry anything with it.

I've really got to learn how to take better pics. This is sitting on a blue background. The pearl is nice and colorful too, looks flat here.

Thanks Richard, that looks amazing.

I've always been hesitant about pearl, but I'm starting to rethink it.

The thing I like about pearl is its' stability. Bone, ivory, tortoiseshell, horn, all move over the years. As long as they aren't abused, pearl will look the same in 100 years. Plus, colorful pearl is gorgeous. :)

My concern has always been that it will get scratched up in my pocket, but plenty of people have assured me that it won't.

Here's a pic of a Horseman's Knife I just finished.

Pen, saw, and sheepsfoot on the front, corkscrew, awl, and leather punch on the back. Also has a hoof pick, fleam, tweezers, and screwdriver (liner).

Scales are mammoth ivory.

That's a stunning piece of work, Richard. Congrats!:thumbup:

Richard,

Looks great! A coveted example of the cutlers art and an inspiration to myself and I am sure others.

Thanks for sharing.

That is absolutely one of the coolest custom slipjoints I have ever laid eyes on.
Makes me want to buy a horse just so I can get one. ;)
