Made by mastersmith Rick Dunkerley
5.25" blade,10" OAL.
1/4" 52100 steel (same stuff Swamp Rat calls SR101, triple tempered, you can see the temper line in the photos),
Brass crossguard, beautifully polished walnut burl handle
A true rare classic from a Mastersmith. It has his JS stamp. Convex edge with temper line, as Rick was one of Ed Fowler's students. Sheath is a work of art itself. Amazingly well built. It secures the knife with a "soft click" for lack of better words. Condition is mint. it's about a ten year old. I asked Rick to sharpened the knife for me at the 2006 Blade show, and he even repolished the blade and handle for me.
Rick no longer makes knives of similar pattern. The carbon steel knives he offers are smaller and usually run like 500-900 dollars.
Price is SOLDshipped paypal add 3%.
Will consider trade for Busse knives or quality folders (custom or production).

Very few smiths can do what Rick does with 52100--his grain structure is as fine as it gets, having achieved sub-1-micron diameter carbides at the cutting edge in a blade tested by a California metallurgy lab. Nice score!
