I wanted to send a message from Rick’s family. I am his granddaughter, and sadly Rick passed on July 18, 2023. All of the kind words in this forum have been very much appreciated by his family these last few days. He absolutely was a legend, and it is so lovely to know that his creativity and work is being carried on. He truly poured his soul into his work.

I'm sorry Cass.
I think it's special that an Artist can reach so many lives.
And he did.

Condolences..... Hope you can acquire some of his work for your own!!!!

I also recently picked up a Rick Hill subhilt fighter with a saw-tooth back. It’s numbered 003 on the blade. I dont see how it could possibly be his third knife, maybe it means something else...

Can anyone share more Info about him or post pics/links to more of his work? it would be greatly appreciated!
Rick was my second cousin. I have 001 and 003. 001 was my mom's and 003 was my dads. Both have passed away. It's strange he would've numbered two of his knives as 003.

Realize this is an older post. Spoke w/Rick several years ago after purchasing a sub hilt from an estate IIRC the 003 indicates that is the pattern number he gives his knives.
