I have a Rick Hinderer 3" XM-18 framelock flipper with titanium handle slabs and a two-tone finished hand ground 20C-V spanto blade for sale. Rick is one of the top established makers of tactical/utility folders, and his work is well known for its sturdy build and tight tolerances. The XM-18 is his most popular pattern, and with its beefy oversized stand-offs and 5/32" thick blade, it is one of his toughest-built models, too, especially for its size.
As many of you know, Rick has recently stopped making the overwhelming majority of his XM-18s with handmade hollow ground blades and has switched over to CNC flat ground blades instead. XM-18s with hand ground blades will be very rare going forwards. This particular XM-18 is unique in that not only does it have a hand ground blade, it is the only flipper piece that has an all-titanium handle, to my knowledge.
I am not the first owner of the XM-18 listed here, but it does not appear to have been carried, used, or resharpened, and its original edge from Rick is very sharp. The flip action is very smooth, and knife opens easily in any orientation with no wrist movement at all. I uploaded a video here to demonstrate the action. The lock-up is rock solid, and the blade centering is near perfect.
***TRADED***
The specs:
Condition: Appears mint
Blade length: 3 1/8" from tip to handle
Overall length: 7"
Blade thickness: Just over 5/32" at ricasso
Blade material: 20C-V
Blade finish: Handrubbed flats, beadblasted grinds
Edge: Plain
Handle slab material: Titanium, beadblasted, with Q-Ball anodizing
Lock: Titanium frame lock, beadblasted, with Q-Ball anodizing
Backspacer: 3 oversized stand-offs, satin finished
Clip: Titanium, beadblasted, with Q-Ball anodizing, interchangeable between tip up and tip down carry
For payment on this piece, I can take USPS money orders and PayPal (add 3% in the US to cover most of the fees, 4% outside of the US). I can also take a personal check if I know you. If you are paying by PayPal, I will only ship to a PayPal-confirmed address. I reserve the right to wait for payments to clear before I ship.
I will consider trades (with appropriate cash adjustment) for custom folders and certain custom balis. I am especially interested in the following makers:
JL Williams
Charles Marlowe
Tim Galyean
Deryk Munroe
Jim Smyth
Kit Carson
Jim Burke
Gerry McGinnis
DB Fraley
Bob Lum
Mike Snody
Sal Manaro
Scott Cook
Ernie Emerson
Rick Hinderer
Matt Cucchiara
Todd Begg
Tom Mayo
Neil Blackwood
Ken Onion
Phil Boguszewski
Flavio Ikoma
I may consider trades for other custom folders or balis not listed above. However, I am not interested in serrated blades, production knives, or fixed blades other than those by John Young or Russ Andrews.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks for looking!
