Here you see the XM-18 3.5" sandblasted frame next to the XM-18 3" with beadblasted frame slicer and the Flashpoint neck knife, for size comparison.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr :D Gotta say I'm warming up to the bead blasted versions, even though Rick does a sick job of sand blasting.

The sandblast is much like a CRK, more dark and matte, the beadblast is a little smoother and shinier, but both look great.

Stonewash/tumbled is obviously less sensitive for scratches since its already scratched, but as long as you don't throw keychains or coins in your pocket both blasts will stay nice !

Here is a closeup of the sandblasted frame, it has little shiny speckles if you look closely enough, I think its very cool !!

Thanks for the pics, emel. Even I'm getting a bit tried of seeing my EDCs over and over.:D

I know the feeling, hopefully after Blade Show I can add some new pics too :D

Meanwhile here are some FXM shots, this is one big chunk of hand ground 20CV steel and the blade is even a bit thicker than the XM-24...

They really should bring the FXM knife into full production, it has a perfect size for EDC.

Thanks emel!

Hey Dropoint. How hard is it to change out the scales, spacers and such? I've change my clip but I'm kind of afraid of the new style flat screws. I'm afraid of turning one out and breaking it. I heard they were lock-tited in too but I don't know if that's true? I also worry about changing the spacer lugs and scale because of creating blade play.

If you know anything about this or anyone else does will you post back plz? I want to get a pondscum scale and maybe bronze colored standoff lugs and clip too. Those colors would match together right?

Sorry for so many questions but if I can't ask here where can I ask right? ;)

I haven't changed the standoffs yet but the XM is very easy to work on. Changing the scale didnt create any play at all. As long as you have thr proper size tools, you dont have to worry about breaking the screws. The only thing is that you have to mess with the pivot after reassembly to get the blade centered. This was just my experience though. However, it is very easy to adjust. I say pick up that scale and go for it. I've completely disassembled mine and it was no problem at all. If you have any specific questions, id be glad to help you out.

I also forgot to add that I cant comment on the loctite as I bought the new style screws seperately to replace my old ones. They didnt come with loctite on them though.
