I see a LOT more available on the knife sites these days.
Did they expand the home factory? They being made at other factories?

Yep, they made a big factory expansion a while back. Stuff is pouring out now.

The days of having to pay high secondary market prices for a production Hinderer and lucky to get one at that are gone. Somewhat surprisingly it seems to have effected prices on his custom work also.

Agree with the above two posters. I still view XM-18 as a top candidate in the $300-400 category.

am I the only one that would rather have a ZT Hinderer? then the real McCoy?

If I had to choose one knife, either my 0562CF or my 3.5" XM18 (both of which I consider perfectly done examples), I would in fact choose the 0562CF. It just checks every box so well.

That said, I'm really glad I don't have to choose, and I don't feel the least bit bad about the money I've spent on Hinderers. They do give me something the ZTs do not. But the reverse is also true. I'm glad to have both.

Do they all come in S35VN? I've been looking for a xm-18 in 3" with duratec 20cv (slicer) with no luck. I thought about calling to see if they do custom orders.

Hinderer for me.
Nothing against ZT seeing as I have quite a few and they're all exceptional flipper/folders but my XMs have a more substantial feel and are a step above in quality.
It's just a personal thing but if I had to choose just one folder it would definitely be my XM-18 3.5 spanto M390.

You are just going to have to keep watching the exchange and put a want ad up. Gen 2 3". Flippers come up from time to time, non flippers less.

Yeah, they did a run of those a few years back. The only way to get one is on the secondary market. Watch the exchange here, and the Hinderer buy/sell group on Facebook.

And be prepared to pay a nice chunk of change.

I still remember the day when XM-18 is sold secondary price for 800+USD. Funny that right now people can find a LNIB condition for $300 give or take...

It would be nice if one day Hinderer would offer replacement blades for sale.

I said that for the longest. I owned too may weak flipping Hinderers. All that changed after I got a XM-24. Still doesn't flip quite as good as most ZT's, but I like the more substantial feel of the Hinderer.
