Rick Menefee knives

Vince, I really do not know the patterns that well, all he said it was a yellow one with a black acorn shield. He did not give me the specs.

My emails to him have been bouncing, so I called him about some Micarta I had sent him for some future knife.

He did mention, now his kids and wife were sick. He has been down for over a week now and has missed working a lot.

I do love that knife, wishing it was headed Southeast.

Thanks Jim.It is a great looking knife . If I had to guess,I'd say it was the "Front Pocket".

Keep up the great work Rick

Jim, what is the yellow handle material on Rick's new knife?

Boy oh boy, so many questions and me so stupid, I did not ask, he did tell me he was having a hard time keeping it from cracking, I suspect G-10. The material is translucent, he said it would show the pins if too much pressure was applied while peening. He usually works with Micarta. I think this will be a one of, with all the trouble he had.

That was my guess, but I figured that you would know better than me.

It's a great looking knife and I typically don't even like micarta or G-10 (yeah I know it's more durable and all, I just prefer natural scales).

The knife is a 4 1/8 backpocket. This my favorite handle material as far as the color. Buterscotch paper micarta very hard to find. Very strong but hard to work because you can see stress under the service of the material. It may sound funny but you have to work it with a very very lite hand. The material is durable but for cosmetic purposes its very hard to work.

Thanks Rick, I was feeling quite dumb. It is a beautiful knife, hope you get the kinks out of your photobucket.

This has a hollow ground 154CM blade. It's got a great pronounced swedge & Rick hand sharpened this one for me. It's a killer!

Vince you shorted out my keyboard, great score there.
I love his modified wharnies.
Thanks for sharing,
Jim

This is a drop point with some interesting synthetic handle scales, the tan material is,well,I dunno what it is
I've never had anything like it It seems to be smooth & grippy at the same time.Perhaps its fiberglass reinforced
The small knife is called a "Burke 3 finger",in natural linen micarta

This picture shows the handle texture better

Has Rick ever made any kitchen knives and if so does anyone have any pictures?

That "steak knife",in the beginning of this thread,is Rick's idea for a steak knife,like,in a set,to accompany,a kitchen set.
Rick is going to make a chef for me.

Thanks Vince. I need a couple new chef's knives and I would rather get exactly what I want from a custom maker than settle for a production knife.

Rick just sent me pictures of one that was finished up for me. It is the one with the G-11 I sell for the handles. I don't know who the lucky stiff is going to get the other one.

I misunderstood Rick, that knife will be on Rick's table,at Blade. That sheath has an Elephant skin inlay & the skin was taken by a hunter who used a knife from Rick on the Safari!
