Rick Menefee Knives...

Ricki, one of those Lanny's should get some Top-of-the-Line Mammoth handles. Not the cheaper dull turd-brown Mammoth, but the expensive colors and cracks stuff. Your knives cannot be beat for cutting, so put on the handles they deserve; i.e. The Best. Yep, ups the price by $200-$300 but it will sell and hold it's value and out-cut knives those other dudes are making.
kj besotted by Menefee-philia, for the knives i mean.

Looks like they're coming along nicely. I know a lot of hard work goes into making a custom to the caliber that you do and the work in progress pics really illustrate that to the people who might not understand.

I figure 40hrs in this project so fare. I require 4 to 5 hour's to feel good. Ill have them done next week more than likely. My brother's and are wife's are taking the babies on a fishing safari the week after next so I'm running wide open. Last family fishing trip maybe for the year at least when everybody's together. Next month Bear season starts so we get to start multi-tasking.

Hope the fishing goes well, sounds like a great time. Our bear season up in NY runs the same time as deer season so it's late in the year compared to your area. Are dogs legal to use there?

yes they are legal. Spot and stalk is how I role. I have know problem with hound dogs. I just choose not to sport hunt with dogs for bear. This is just me

No dogs allowed for big game here. My brother is a die hard coon hunter and has a family of Plott Hounds. He had Walkers and such but has moved away from them in favor of the Plotts.

This is Gunner, Walker and Blue Tick mix that was a sensational coyote and fox chaser. He's passed and we don't hunt them much anymore outside of calling but Gunner had a serious track record. We have no clue how many coyotes and fox have been killed under his chase. Don't mean to derail your thread at all Rick, thought you'd be interested to see a few pictures since we both have hunting/fishing in our blood. It's me in the pics.

I liked to use a thinned out Sharpfinger for skinning. Did you ever make a similar knife?

As you might be able to discern from my username, I am a die hard coon hunter too. :)

I have hunted these Oklahoma hills for almost 40 years.

I have used a trapper or stockman for most of my skinning chores over the years, and the odd muskrat or two.

Lately I have been eyeing Rick's knives. I can tell they are made by a man who knows what kind of a blade is needed to work on game and fish...I may need to get him to design a smallish fixed blade that would be just right for skinning out coons.

Rick's "Burke's 3-Finger" might be the knife that would work for this.

Rick I acquired this swayback from Mike Helberg's collection, but did not get any information on the engraving (who did the work) or the story on the engraved shield. Can you provide any information about this knife?
Thanks, Charles

Sweet. Did you receive my text response on the shields? I didn't respond back to you, until later in the day.
