Ricks Marchand Planet of the Apes

I sent them non-sharpened blades at their request... can't trust those actors. A few of each. Then they caste some rubber props for the stunt doubles.

Here is a shot of a couple rubber casts next to the original. I had to make sheaths to fit the props as well. Mine is on the right. Pretty cool how they even kept the makers mark.

That is super cool. The clones don't quite compare to the original. :D

They are much thicker, too. Almost 1/2" at the ricasso. It throws the slicing action way off, IMHO. Plus... your apple slices taste like rubber and model paint.

rubber, steel...that's one cool looking knife!

What great news- congrats!

How did this come about? You hook up with producers at a knife show?

They contacted me via my website. When I asked how they found me, I was told that there was a team of seven that scoured the web looking for knives with the aesthetic they wanted for the specific characters. 5 of the 7 had me as top pick. They dropped a LOT of cash for a few split-second appearances... and said the rubber copies cost more than the real knife! BIG MONEY IN MOVIES!

They spent more money on the rubber knives instead of just buying more of the real thing.

Were the Apes doing the ordering or something?

I love seeing custom work on tv. Congrats! They definitely will drop a lot of cash on them.

These are such great looking blades. I especially love the middle one. Congrats on the recognition and yeah - next time  charge more. Now I have to turn this page off or I will want to buy another custom knife o_O .

These are so

Cheers, Ray

Congratulations Thats pretty cool. I saw the movie but didn't know your work was in it, I will have to go see it again.

Rick, did you sign a release allowing them to copy and reproduce that knife? If not they could be hip deep in ape shit, and you about ready to retire.
