Hello,
Still a new BF member so, first, apologies if this isn't the right place but it appeared to be.. I felt compelled to share my more than satisfactory experience with another member named RICKSTER who provided a great first time buy.. And a second. And an even more solid third..
I replied to a post in the Exchange the other day regarding an Emerson and noticed the buyer had a location of 'Illinois.' After some hesitation I sent a second message regarding his location, a feeler of sorts. We spoke on the phone, he answered some questions and, surprisingly enough, the buyer was willing to meet me in person. I would have totally understood if he wanted to keep it to Paypal and post, but this man wanted me to see the goods. And he delivered. He met me later that day. It was perfect. I happened to ask him if one of the other knives in his post was still available and sure enough it was. A deal was had, the wheels set in motion, package in the post the next morning. Awesome.
Today the RICKSTER reached out to me to see if things were good with the knife and we were shooting the proverbial shit when it became apparent that I was about to put an order in on a new Sebenza Insingo. Hold it, he says. RICKSTER, the CRK aficionado, thinks he can help me out. He says to hold off the buy, consider meeting him to see some of the Chris Reeve knives in person and some of his other gems. Of course, I say. Either way, I'm spending money before the night is out..
By now you know where this is going, so we can cut it down, but RICKSTER was more than happy to drop what he was doing, meet me, go over not only the CRK's he brought but the others, the various gems encountered over the years, everything. It was great. So, in the end, he parts with his Large 2010 Sebenza 21 Insingo, a beautiful piece, with additional stonewash. It's gorgeous. Both the knife and my first experience with the exchange here on BF. *tear*
Again, I felt compelled to share something since he said I couldn't really leave feedback for this one in the traditional sense* so this appears to be the alternative. As someone who has done deals with individuals from forums, other service, etc, this is easily a top 3 buy in terms of the seller not just wanting his cheese but wanting to share his passion, knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Hell, if he didn't follow through on the previous buy this wouldn't have happened. It was pretty encouraging, I cannot lie. A good start. Sorry for the length of this post.
Thank you for reading,
Ben
