As in any community of enthusiasts, there are always a few bad apples, but there are often many more folks that make the community great. Rick is one of those individuals that definitely makes this hobby fun, satisfying, and worthwhile.
I had occasion to send a knife to Rick that he had made for me because, well...I can be "nitpicky" sometimes.
Before sending the knife, I bent Rick's ear regarding my concern and asked what he thought. He listened patiently and then simply said to send the knife to him and he would check it out. I did, he did, and in just a few days, he had already addressed my concern and was ready to send the knife back. Fast forward to today, the knife is back in my hands and better than ever. And while I was certainly happy to pay Rick for the time he spent on my knife, he didn't want payment, not even for return shipping.
Folks, Rick is a great knifemaker and a tremendous credit to this hobby. If you have not had the pleasure of owning or handling something made by Rick, I might suggest that you get something made by him. Heck, take it one better and have him build you a knife to your specs. His prices are reasonable, he gives you an accurate timeframe to complete your knife, and is very knowledgeable and good at his craft. And of course, his customer service is just as exceptional. You won't be disappointed!
