I was looking for a certain jacket, and RideGear.Com had it at a good price. I ordered the jacket on 11/15.

I got an email saying I would get an separate email when the jacket was shipped.

Ten days passed. No email. So I checked my credit card. I was charged on 11/15 -- $225.00.

I sent an email asking when I might expect the jacket to ship. No response.

I sent an email asking when I might expect the jacket to ship. Again, no response.

Yesterday night, when they were still open for an hour (CA company), I emailed again, pointed out the above, and asked if this was typical customer service. Twenty-two hours later, there is still still no response.

Sooooooooo, doing it backwards (:o), I Googled the company's name. Guess what? My experience is typical: http://www.dealtime.com/xMR-store+ridegear~MRD-302131~S-1 It's Botac all over again.

If I had Googled first, I would not be in this situation.

Letter to CC company tomorrow challenging charge.

And their site now shows the jacket as "Out of Stock/Discontinued."

So it's now close to a month since RideGear charged my card.

On December 4, they sent me an email admitting that they didn't have the jacket. They asked if I'd like to aply the charge to different merchandise. I told them to removed the charge.

Eight days later - the chage is still there.

Next step, dispute Ridegear.com's charge with the credit card company.

And all this time, Ridegear has the "float."

Look at the bright side -- the chargeback fee they'll get charged is considerably more than the interest your money has earned while it was in their possession. Of course, that doesn't do you any good....

The moral of the story: Always search before you buy.

Boy, ain't that the truth. Would have been easy to find. :(

Just a little update on the scum-sucking creeps at RideGear.com.

They fought the refund all the way, but Discover finally gave me a permanent credit.

Three months. :barf:
