Ridiculous "tactical" products from BlackHawk

goggles are goggles....not exacly. If you catch shrapnel to the face, do you want to be wearing a pair of glass diving goggles or 3mm ballistic polycarbonate tactical goggles?

I 2nd that - we used ballistic glasses and goggles in the Army - I'd rather keep my eyesight when the IED goes off - now... the coffee cup...

Hi All-

The Caffeine Transfer Unit (CTU) is a funny spoof on Jack Bauer's Counter-Terrorist Unit (CTU) on the hit television show "24". Their knives are silly.

~ Blue Jays ~

Are all their knives silly? They bought out MOD. The knives are not silly. You might laugh at some designs, but the basic functionality and toughness is there.

i dont care for their look. a little 'aggressive looking'. though not bad quality.

i prefer cleaner simpler lines.

Well the goggles are highly thought of enough that many officers in the IFO have demanded/insisted that they be worn by troops at all times when "topsides" in military vehicles. You may be mistaking the looks as those of ski goggles or the goggles your science teacher handed out in HS. But after seeing a few guys who still had functional eyeballs after being exposed to IED's or RPG attacks on convoys, believe me they are not the same. My best friend just got back from a second 9 months as a Navy Doc attached to the Fallujah Marine CASH and he talked about seeing several guys come in with a face full of fragments but still having working eyes because adequate eye protection was used.

Blackhawk has highly regarded products in the field. Their stuff is designed for and by people who have the t shirt.

There knives may be a little "aggressive looking" but they are not meant for mall ninja's. The MOD automatics are very well received in the armed forces community.

+1

the over use of tactical
goggles are goggles - if you wanna call a pair of goggle tactical then its has to be night vision or infrared or both
go look at their products and count how many of them have the word tactical in the name
thats what made the mug so funny, it was a "tactical" coffee mug

You really dont know the meaning of "Tactical" do you? I mean I took tactical EMT but that diddn't help me see in the dark. It taught me about operating in a "tactical Environment" such as a hostage situation. Even your own definition of tactical diddnt include anything about seeing in the dark.

I agree that the word tactical is overused like "tactical Brief Case" or "Tactical Coffee mug" but if you read the ads for these many are very funny.

But these goggles are designed to be used by soldiers in combat and swat teams. You dont get more tactical than that.

If they were for fire fighters i might expect them to be called Turnout goggles or fire goggles, for an OR staff, they would be called Medical Eye Sheilds etc.

As for the knives, I cannot speak for the whole MOD series but take a minute to read up on who desighned many of these, these are Real life "Been There Done That" types who teach sefense to police and military world wide. some of these may look odd but if you read up on the fighting style or defensive purpose they make alot of sense.

Oh yeah, if you put the word "tactical" in front of a product it definitely makes it more high speed. Honest, I swear.

Seriously though, I've used a handful of BHI products and they turn out some pretty good gear. I've used some of their gloves, pouches and belts. I don't think they are any better than any other "tactical" gear makers(tactical tailor, eagle, ect.), though.

I like the term tactical it has a meaning until its over used and is a marketing tool on a product with no tactical application. Goggles are just that goggles they arent tactical unless they allow you to see in the dark or see heat obvious you guys were to thick aside from Morim* to undstand what i meant about the tactical part: looks like i will have to get you the definition so you can, hopefully, understand the point i was making

characterized by skillful tactics or adroit maneuvering or procedure: tactical movements.

And Where in this definition do you see Night Vision, or Thermal Imaging. Which is what goggles would be called if they had that function. the term Tactical would then be added if they were designed for military type use as opposed to for hunters, fire fighters etc.

As far as being THICK goes I would say that there is only one person posting here who fits that description. and thats the one who can't comprehend the fact that "Tactical" has more meanings than the ones he has gleaned from all his years of experience in the tactical field.:jerkit:
