Giant Melon Ball Mace

52" long and weighs 12.5 Lbs. The melon ball is 4" in diameter and the handle is 1.5" white oak wrapped in grip tape.

The ball is MIG welded to a collar and press fitted and pinned to the handle.

Wildly oversized and ridiculously impractical, this mace is fun at parties or as a gift for your favorite ogre.

Is this actually meant for skulls etc, or is there a non weapon related use I can't think of? Totally not knocking it, it is super freaking cool....Just trying to grasp if it is something someone would likely buy to have a cool weapon or to actually beat on something....?

As far as I know there is no historical analog and I had no use in mind when I made it. I just did it because "I could". It's definitely more novelty than practical.

Thanks!

More of an executioner's mace than a fighting mace at that weight, but damn that thing is awesome! :D

I have a cold steel mace - only real use I can find is smashing up a dead tree for kindling. Where did you get the ball? How did you drill it?

Sorry for the late response, the thread didn't notify me that there were more responses.

I got the ball from an architectural metals supplier (I think it was King). I drilled it on a drill press - mild steel drills like butter.

Soo..it's a shot put attached to a stick :D

Yup!
