Those are repro brass tacks. They were a common trade item back in the old days. You can find them at Powwows and Rendezvous, or you could look on the internet for Native American craft supply sites. I've seen them on ebay too.

I think I've got a few. Nothing fantastic, but it worked. Its now a dedicated lawn tool.
