Rift 950 vs Grip 550 - a little help

Rift is incredibly strange feeling wise in hand, it just doesn't feel right

Contego on the other hand just plain hurts, so if you like that maybe you might like the Rift

Good decision! I’ve had both and I could not get used to the pinky hump on the Rift with my XL hands. A shame because the blade is outstanding on it.

Is d2 necessarily a upgrade to S30v? Depends on what features in steel you want.
The stock Rift is 154CM. D2 has great edge retention (better than 154CM), plus it is tougher than s30v (S30V is more prone to chipping), which is good when you're out in the woods camping/hunting, or using your knife to debone deer quarters. I'm not as concerned with rust resistance, which is really the biggest advantage s30v has over D2.

I've beat up on S30v and 154 pretty good. I like them both. D2, in theory, worries me for the potential for rust, but it does take a nice edge.

On topic of the which one question. I think the Rift is so much more ergonomical than a Grip. Depends allot on hands I suppose, but again that's my choice.

Grip 550-1 in the house! Dang nice knife. The g10 is just a little slick, but this is an outstanding package. I Luke every aspect of it. Weight, balance, blade, lock, etc. It's all good!

I prefer the Grip (Ritter Grip even more). I have a Rift and though it is a good looking knife I rarely carry it. Amy Mini RitterGrip in M4 is my most carried knife.

My favorite knife by far is my 9555 auto-Rift. Like others have said tho, it really does depend on your hand size and how the knife feels when you’re holding it. If possible you should try to find a local dealer that carries both knives and see what fits best for you.
