Well, just took my "7" apart so that I could sand the scales down a bit. I just don't need that much grip, or my jeans being torn up! Unscrewed the knife and removed the scales. Listening to others on the subject, got some 220 and 600 grit wet/dry emory cloth and filled the sink with water. I proceeded to carefully wet sand both scales (don't want any G10 material getting airborne as other suggested), and they turned out fine. Took my needle oiler and added a touch of oil to the pivots, and screwed it back together. Love the scales now, and opening it is smoothing out nicely.
