I've been doing a little research on the Rike 1503, and I'd like to hear from owners on their thoughts about this knife. I did a google search and there is some info out there, but not a lot.
I really like the looks, the blade shape, and it ticks all the right boxes for me, I just would like some real world feedback on it if possible.
I've never had a knife with Bohler M390 before.

I have rike knife, its an earlier one not this, but the built quality is outstanding. and the one I have is from a year or so ago,im sure this is just as good if not better than any similar folder out there. the only difference is the price, these have steadily gone up in price as new models are introduced, you have to decide if its worth it to you...

Can't comment on Rike, but my BM-810 in m390 hasn't let me down yet. Great steel IMO. Holds an edge extremely well.

Seriously. One of the benefits to buying a knife made in China is the price. This has no such benefit.

Agreed. Many of these Chinese brands are loosing their value. At the prices they are asking, I can find a comparable value in a USA made blade. When that happens, local service and warranty will win every day. A year ago I was buying Reates, Kizers, Stedemons, Rikes and Maxace at a steady rate. Now I'm much more selective and leaning back toward ZT and Benchmade...although the Reate and Kizer designer collabs are pretty sweet knives, I'm still on-board for some of those as they make sense to my wallet.

The only "new" Chinese brand I've purchased lately was a WE, and that was a smoking deal on a second-hand knife at the Exchange. Most brands simply want too much money for a knife on an island.

Edit: BTW, I consider Reate and Kizer as having proven themselves on the service and warranty front...not so much for the other brands. And it's not just Chinese knives; I've heard of people having nothing but hassle trying to get a CKF knife serviced. I love my CKF knives too but the price of that brand has gotten stupid high also.

Well, I decided to go ahead and buy the Rike 1503, and so far I'm glad I did. It's extremely well made, fit, finish, and centering are spot on. With the ti scales weight relieved, it's nice and light in the hand and pocket. The detent and flipping action matches well and the blade comes out with authority. The handle fits my medium/large sized hand really well, and the factory grind slices copy paper easily.
I've been on the hunt for mid-tech titanium frame lock flippers that fit a certain profile (pocket friendly, reasonably low weight, and a very small unobtrusive flipper tab) and the 1503 fits the profile well. The other two I have so far are the Kizer Velox 2, and the Liong Mah/Reate SDC, and all these are keepers and my current EDC rotation. I'll try to get some pix up later today.
I've stayed away from overly heavy and pricey knives, and now I'm looking at front flippers that fit the profile.
We'll see how the search goes...
