Hi everyone. I'm trying to get an idea if there is a market for ringed knives. No karambits just regular drop point blades with a ring at the end of the handle. Does anyone here carry, use, or own a ringed knife? If so what are your impressions on it's usefulness in comparison to knives without? I had tried one but didn't see a benefit as an edc. Am I missing something?

I'd be intrested in it if it was either a small neck knife like an izula, or a flat defense knife like a spartan cqb. I don't see much reason to have a ring on a full size camping/hunting type knife, just on ones were you need the extra grip.

The only ring knife I see a use for in my personal experience/use of knives - would be a knife like a Benchmade SOCP. So, for an emergency SD knife? Yes. Anything else, in my experience I would say no.

Don't know how big the market would be, but I sometimes carry a Graham ringed Razel in my front pocket and really like it. Use my pinky in the ring to pull it out, then transition to full grip as more of the handle is exposed. I think it depends on how long you make the handle; if the ring is where the pinky would normally be, it gives a very secure grip and nice feel. If the handle is longer and you have to move down it to acquire the ring, then it's awkward(had a larger Graham "Stars & Stripes" ringed razel and it didn't add anything useful to the knife).

I really like the BRK Ringtail, good small task and fishing knife, the ring is handy for keeping the knife out and usable while also using that hand for small tasks. I don't EDC it, but its nice for certain stuff.
