The RingScout was designed as a standalone outdoor companion. Whether processing field tasks, or reaching for a defense backup, the RingScout serves both purposes equally well. The overall length of 9 1/2" and effective cutting edge of 4 3/8" form a sub 7 ounce knife that is ready for most trail and outdoor tasks...with a twist!

The ring located at the pommel end of the knife lends itself to new solutions for old problems:

  • A forehand or backhand grip is achieved with positive ergonomic feel and security of retention. The RingScout is at home and ready for work in both formats.
  • For fire starting, a ferrocerium rod fits perfectly in the ring indention. This indention is left with a square edge to provide excellent rod engagement for sparks.
  • Spine replacement - use the ring to more accurately perform task traditionally left to the spine...such as scraping or removing materials, with a positive grip and controlled force.
  • Force striking is an option through a hammer strike with a traditional grip, or a backhand grip with a strike force point at the knuckle. Both options provide a positive and safer way to use your knife.
  • Full tang design brings structural stability for high force applications.
  • Scales are fully removable via 6 stainless screws for deep cleaning and maintenance or an extra slim profile.
  • One problem NOT improved here is state law. My understanding is New York, California, and Texas have issues with knives with rings. Please make sure this is legal to own in your area before purchasing!

Knife Specifics:

New in 2025 - Hollow ground CPM Magnacut steel blades, Stainless steel (or blackened stainless steel) T8 Torx screws, stainless connectors, multi color G10 scales, and tuxedo G10 liners.

My knives are all hand done and finished in my shop in Ohio, from raw components. We do not outsource. With the help of my wife, RingScouts come in a beautiful handmade Horween leather (tannery in Chicago) sheath. This right-hand vertical belt loop rig is fully stitched in with 3-chord bonded nylon thread. This sheath will protect your heirloom and keep it ready for service for many years to come.

$220 + $9 shipping = $229 PayPal Goods and Services to your door in these United States.

Feel free to reach out with any questions or custom requests!
