RIP Hank Rummell

Sad news, Hank was great to be around and always made me smile. I'll always remember the Guild Show in Disney World.
A great loss.

First met Hank on TKCL many years ago. Always a nice and knowledgeable guy and Helen is as sweet as can be. It was always a pleasure to touch base with him at shows.

We lost a very good man.

Very Sad news indeed. My thought and prayers to Hank and his family as well. I bought my first auto from Hank at the small middletown show in NY quite a few years ago. It was a hawk prototype done for microtec by Reese Wieland. Hank told me he had it with him, and well he must have looked for hours through all his cases to finally find it. Needless to say it made me very happy. I'll allways remember that. He was a good dude.

Hank and Helen were quite a pair. Hank may have been seen as a bit crusty, but I do not remember him ever being anything but kind and helpful to me. Helen is always a bright star with a sweet smile, whenever you meet her. We send our love and prayers for her comfort and support. I'm very sad to hear of this.

To the Rummell Family,
I am very sorry to hear of Hanks passing. It is with my deepest sympathy that I am writing to you. I heard how the loss happened and am very sorry for you all. As a dog lover myself, I could see how it happened. I would be thinking of my dog's safety FIRST as Hank did. I will miss seeing him at the shows as I would always stop and see him and Helen. I bought my first high end ( at least what I thought was high end at the time ) knife from Hank. I have since bought a few more over the years.
Again, I am sorry to hear this news, I wanted to wish the family all the peace and comfort possible, Take Care....

THIS WAS THE CAPTION FOR THE PICTURE POSTED ABOVE:

To collector/purveyor Hank Rummell and his wife of the Black Hat award for contributions to the knife and general community.

This award was created and sponsored by Mark in honor of his friends (now decesed) Judy and Mick Koval who supplied knife parts etc to the knifemaking community for years. Mick was always seen in a Black Hat so such came the name of an award that has been presented at the Chicago knife show for the 4th time

So sorry to hear the news. I bought one of my first custom knives from Hank years ago and always stop at his table to say hello and gaze at his beautiful knives and Helen's great miniatures. My condolences to Helen. He will be missed. He joins that sad, increasingly long list of people I will always be looking for at shows who will no longer be there.
