RIP Herman Suwanda

The very sad news has come that Bapak Herman Suwanda , his wife and several students have died in a head on collision in Germany the other day. Pak Herman was by all acounts an open and generous teacher of silat.

He was a very generous teacher. I met him once about 5 years ago. He was in town for a seminar at my school. I was cornering for a full contact match for another student and he came to the fight. He was very polite and forthcoming with information and instruction.

It was a shame I couldn't make it to the seminar but I had to work that weekend. I even asked my instructor when we could get him back just last month! He will be missed.
