When I heard of this I wanted to snap necks. I still want to snap necks. At least I know some necks are not worth snapping.

Firefighter, police, military, TSA, EMT regardless their title, they save our buts. They may be payed, or a volunteer but they protect us. When things hit the fan they catch the stuff most people duck from.

A JUST REWARD

The deputy stood and faced her maker,
which must always come to pass.
She hoped her shoes were shining,
just as brightly as her brass.

"Step forward now, Law Enforcement Officer,
how shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To your Maker, have you been true?

The Deputy, with shoulders squared,
said, "No Sir...I guess I ain't.
Because those of us that carry badges
can't always be a saint."

"I've had to work most Saturdays
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are so tough."

"But I never took a single dime
that wasn't mine to keep.
Thought I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills just got too steep."

"And I never passed a cry for help
thought at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, please forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears."

"I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
except to calm their fears."

"But if you have a place for me here, well...
it need not be too grand.
I never expected or had too much,
so if you don't...I understand."

There was silence all around the room
where the saints respectfully stood.
As the Deputy waited quietly,
for judgment....bad or good.

"Step forward now my friend,
you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
you've done your time in hell."
