Well, I am pretty sure that I got ripped off by nivejuncky. I contacted him earlier this year to build a custom bali for me, and after sending him $350, he has failed to deliver a knife as promised by the end of August. I have sent him several PM's while he is on the forums asking him what is up, and each time he does not answer back. He has not been on the forums for several months now, and I am pretty sure that I am screwed. I have also sent emails to him via his profile, as well as on another forum, but he pulls the same stunt where he is logged on, logs on again, and ignores my messages.

Looking back on the whole deal, I should have known better, but then again I don't want anyone to get taken.

I have saved all of the PM"s and can post them if needed.

Thanks,

Chris

Edited to add, looks like his name is Don Richey and he lives in Shelbyville, Indiana.

The best rule is: Never pay in advance for a knife, and only after it's finished. A small deposit so the knifemaker knows you are serious is a different thing all together.
If you must, then you should use Paypal or something to try and protect yourself. Send him a link to this thread and see if he replies. Looks like he hasn't logged in here in over a month+, maybe something happened?

I have thought about the fact that something might have happened, but he has been online a couple of times after I have sent him the PM's asking what is up, so I am pretty sure that he is flat out ignoring me. The same thing happened when I tried to contact him on the other forum.

I will send him a copy of this link, thank you for the idea.

Chris

I just emailed him, asking him to contact 6734 or me, or to post in this thread, to which I gave him the link.

He last posted here in June, but has been on BF in September.

Yup, will do. I have already received several offers and suggestions for help by PM, you guys are awesome.

Well, I received the following email today:

"Dear Chris,

I have no idea where to start, so just let me begin by saying that I am sorry.

I am contacting all current customers of my knives to refund their money.

The last half year has been a rough one for my family and I. We have suffered losses in the family and since then we have had to delegate some of the responsibilities of our family buissiness. I was already very busy working a full time job 10-12 hrs a day and helping where I could with that buissiness. The addition of making these knives was a hobby I took on to help relax but have taken on more and more of these responsibilities myself.

I am so sorry that I haven't contacted you before this and it is with a heavy heart that I have to say that I will not be making knives for the foreseeable future. This has been a hard decision for me to make but at some time you just have to admit that you just can't do it anymore.

Please let me know how you would be like to be refunded.
Money order, paypal, and let me know where or how to send it and I WILL get this out to you within this week.

My sincerest apologies,

Donald Richey"

He refunded the paypal amount that I had payed him, so it looks like the situation has been resolved.

Thanks again for all of the help guys.
