Any chance of one with an interchangeable insert for different size pins / pivots (1/8", 3/16"). Either way, I'll be ordering one when I get back to the states!

Oh man I just did the milling for one of those last weekend after seeing them in the slipjoint build off. All I have to do is drill the holes for the pivot and spring and mine will be finished.

Just shows how much of a good idea I think they are.

Right now they are made for 3/32 only. I may add multi size pins in the future.

Pardon an old has been for buttin in but how does this thing work?

These fixtures are used to aid in making sure the folder back spring is flush in the open and closed positions. (half stops too!) Primarily made for slip joint makers but they work for Lock Back's as well.

As shown in the photo, the spring and blade are mounted on pins on the fixture in the open position. The dial indicator is zeroed out. The blade is then rotated to the half stop or closed position. The dial indicator will show you how much material needs to be removed from the back or bottom of the tang to insure the spring lies in the same position whether open, half stop or closed.

This eliminates the need for repeated assembly and fitting. It's all done on the fixture.

There is a link on my web site to the complete instructions on it's use.

Bill,

I don't think I'm going to modify the original design but what I can do is make a few bushings that will for over the 3/32 pin. These will accommodate 1/8, 3/16ths and 1/4" pivots.

Cool!!! That's what I was kind of thinking would work. Will you be offering the bushings at a "retrofit kit" (for a charge of course) if you've already purchased the main unit?

Bill, I would like to get a rise and fall Indicator from you, I would like a couple of bushings for it. One in 1/8 and one in 3/16, let me know what to pay for the extra bushings. Thanks, Bill

I am going to be sleeve kits that will slide over the 3/32 standard size pins in the fixture. Each set will include 1/8, 3/16ths, and 1/4" sleeves. They will be around $10 per set and will be available next week. I will post here when they are completed. I will also update my site.
