Rising Custom Knife Prices and Your Budget

Are there any other makers that do this type of thing? I'm interested in doing something like this, and I'm pretty much like thebadguy -- the money dwindles away instead of getting saved up like it should.

A lot depends on the customer. If I feel comfortable with payments, no problem. I don't do payments ahead of completion or paid in advance. If it is a wild thing and lots of high end parts, then it would be a special order and that would be a completely different situation.
Payments on knives are put into a box with the knife, and when the box is full of enough money, the knife is shipped to the customer. I just wished that I had a box for every knife I make :).

Ray, I think that is an excellent way of handling payments on a knife. That way you don't have the problem of having spent the money before the knife is started.
