Just picked up a new black ritter - but the blade looks different.

I've owned several in the past, and they always seem to have more belly than this one. This blade is closer to a regular grip shape then a ritter, and I really miss the extra blade height.

Am I just imagining things or did they do some work to design on later production runs?

I don't think that they changed it. Would it be possible for you to post a couple of pictures?

It would, but now I'd be embarassed. Maybe my eyes are just playing tricks on me but I swear it's lost some belly.

I'll have pics up soon for those smarter than I tell me crazy.

Here's mine. Look the same?

You're right. That does look more like a regular Grip. Where did you get it? Could it be a fake? That blade looks flat ground in that pic.

I think you are good to go. That is exactly what my Ritter mini looks like, although a better picture with knife flat would help.

Yeah, perspective is goofy in the picture, but it looks right to me. Did you previously have a large and now you've gone to a mini? perhaps that's the confusion.

I've had several large and small ritters.

The blade came today from the dealer that we all know who sells them so I can't imagine it's a fake.

Your mini does like strange, although it could just be the picture. Compared to the mini in the picture with the 300SN it certainly looks like the blade is cut much differently.

Does look shorter than normal. Maybe get some blade height measurements from other folks for comparative data.

Could you take a few more pics?
That looks like a regular to me..

Maybe I'm just being picky, but it would really help if we didn't have to turn our heads sideways....

It does look different to me too.

That's pretty much what my 2 week old SW mini looks like, too. I don't think you're too far off base, though. I've owned Ritters for years and for some time now, it has seemed to me that the blade shape was slowly "morphing" into more of a regular shape. I know the grind is still different, but I'm also under the impression that the belly to tip area used to look more like an Izula than it has for a while.

Of course, it may be nothing more sinister than a new group of people doing the final shaping and sharpening since BM sharpens their blades by hand with belts, IIRC.
