I just ordered me a Ritter grip. Will it be a good woods folder? What about the cabelas D2 grip? Are these perty strong folders? I always, thought they feel, real good in the hand.

Hard to go wrong with either.

If I were going really heavy duty back country type stuff, I'd want a fixed blade, especially if I thought I might have to baton it, but for general camp and field stuff, enjoy!!!

I prefer the blade shape of the Ritter and it's made with S30V compared to the Cabelas' 551BKD2, but either would make a great woods knife if you wanted a strong folder. I'd opt for a fixed blade with one of these as a backup though.

The s30v in the Ritter Grip is a really good stainless. It actualy easily takes and holds a fine edge. With a lot less effort than D2.

I too would highly reccomend a fixed blade with a 4-5 inch blade at least as your primary knife with the folder as backup.

Love mine! It's my main woods folder. Batoned with it carefully several times and it's done great.

For what it is I think its great - it is made obviously as a woods knife, though not as heavy as fixed blade. A bti big for my light needs takes up most of front pocket.

For me the ritter mini grip is the winner though - If I had to choose "one knife" that would be mine.

Of all the grips, I like the blade on the ritter the most. I haven't used one yet, but I do like the standard grips, awesome lock.

I think they are excellent folders. Some folks hate the plastic handles, but they are nice and hand filling while keeping the knife very light.

The Ritters are my favourites out of the Griptilian family, very closely followed by the Cabela's D2 Grips.
They are strong, reliable folders.

My Ritter mini is 2.6oz (75gm) and I sure wish the Sebenza opened as easily.
