Hi all,

I ordered a Doug Ritter RSK MK1-G2 Knifeworks Exclusive back in March and I just got my email that it is being shipped.

If any of you are thinking about ordering the Hogue version of the Ritter grip, but are on the fence because of the "pre order" status, I just thought I'd share that it was about 7 weeks from order to shipping.

I'm pretty excited to get it. I could hardly wait, so I bought a BM super freek 2 weeks ago and now I'm stoked to compare them side by side. All other reviews I've seen indicate both are winners. I'm also curious how it will compare to the mini grip in g10 and 20cv.

Mine is on the way as well. I've been waiting at least that long but it must have felt longer because I've bought a bunch of knives in the meantime

Really looking forward to getting the RSK Mk1-G2 though. I'm expecting very good things from it!

Lots to update! Got the knife and it's really nice.

It came with the best edge finish and sharpness of any folder I've ever bought. I'm comparing it against 3 Benchmades, about 15 Manix 2s, and 1 USA Gerber (and Chinese stuff). Blade centering is close enough, but not perfect.

The action is very smooth. I normally tighten my pivot to the point of drop shut with a little resistance, and this knife required no adjustment. It's action reminds me of my mini grip, but with blade inertia like the super freek. My super freek has a hiccup of resistance near close that hasn't worn in/out yet. This Doug Ritter needs no wearing in. Compared to the Manix 2, these Benchmade and Hogue knives have better weight distribution further out from the pivot, making their action feel more solid and smooth. It's just the physics of the weight distribution.

Overall I'm very happy with this knife. I'm glad I waited for it, it's a great value for a premium user knife.

Its a great knife. The only complaint I have is the pocket clip creates a hot spot in the hand.
Now that I have mine, I see what you mean. I don't mind the pocket clip on the mini grip of the freek, but for whatever reason, I notice the very top of it at the bottom of my hand.

So one last thing to touch on, my clip broke yesterday while the knife was in my pocket and I was sitting in my truck. I don't know if it caught on the seat belt, but it was a brittle failure, so I really had no warning, just a *ping* while I was leaning over at a drive-through.

Obviously this exacerbates the clip hot spot!

I called Hogue and they are sending a replacement clip next day. This is the second time I've called in a warranty on a on knife and this was super easy. I'm really happy with Hogue's customer service.

If the BM deep carry clip fits, I’d think the black oxide style would as well. I use the original clip that my BM Mini Ritter came with. It’s a black oxide style with parkerized finish instead. I tried their deep carry on mine and ran across the hot spot issues you guys are talking about. I think if I’d have been using a deep carry from the get-go I wouldn’t mind it as much, but going from the oxide style to the deep carry made it an annoyance.

This is the original clip I’m talking about. The flatness really helps the grip.

I have a few spare black oxide clips that I’d definitely be interested in trying on one of those when I pick one up.. Maybe it could work for you as well as long as you have a few laying around. I love my mini Ritter, and now that they’ve become ridiculously expensive, I’ve been considering buying a Hogue just incase the unthinkable happens to my little orange buddy.

Very tempting to pull the trigger I’ve been wanting one and since there in stock now. I was not on board with a pre-order with a unknown arrival.

Just an update. I still am really liking this knife. It gets tons of pocket time because of its great action, great blade grind, and great blade steel. It feels more solid in the hand than the BM freek somehow.

I love mine also what a great knife that’s been in my pocket almost everyday since it’s arrival

I have been on the no more knives thing for while, but this one makes me want me to send my clams to the hogue crew.
Then it’s time to treat yourself :D
If you like the BM you will love this one twice as much,it’s a great knife topped with m390

FYI - I've heard rumors there's already an updated version in the works. Not sure on timeline.

We’re did you hear this and what updates ?
The only update I can see it needing is possibly a new pocket clip which can easily be changed due to comfort/hot spot for right handers. For me it’s not existent because I’m a lefty and feels like the whole knife was made for my hand , feels really good for me anyway .
Edit: As far as rumors thats normally all they are and sometimes this is how they start :)

I looked at the Freek but, decided against it. To me, it seems like they completed 90% of the design work and then just gave up on the project. It's not a bad knife but it does nothing for me. The new Ritter is a much better knife in my opinion.

I heard from a prominent knife reviewer, who spoke to Doug at Blade. Something might have gotten misinterpreted along the way there - who knows.
