ritter mini or cricket c29et ???????????

the doug ritter mk1 mini, or the spyderco cricket c29et

Without knowing more about the kind of knife you want, I'd say it is a personal choice. The two are very different in design. What are you looking for?

I love my Cricket (Plain Edge). The blade shape is one that you have to use to really appreciate, IMO. It disappears in the pocket yet is large enough for anything I have needed to cut. Plus, the shape is open or closed is very appealing (to me).

This being a Spyderco forum, I imagine there might be a slight bias towards something Spyderco over something Benchmade. I personally don't find the Cricket appealing and I like the Mini Ritter Grips. However, I've never held a Cricket and usually after holding Spydercos I appreciate them a lot more.

Welcome to the forums:).

They're really quite different knives. I love the Cricket SE though. It's a great slim little knife that packs a lot of power into the tiny blade due to the reverse-S curve blade.

if you need a very small knife with lots of cutting ability, take the cricket.
if you need a bigger knife, take the calypso Jr :D (well, the Ritter MK1 mini if you prefer)

Two vastly different knives. I prefer the mini Ritter, but I had a Cricket, and liked it. Too small for my paws, it really packs a lot of knife into a little bit of size.

I concur with silenthunterstudios.

Two vastly different knives.

Personally, I carry a Ritter Mini-Grip. I found the Cricket too small overall.

For a blade roughly equivalent to the Ritter but pointier, I believe you may wish to look at the UK and such (the UK has no lock, but... ). I carried a UK at work for a bit and liked the blade shape, but I am admittedly a pro-Axis lock person.

The problem with the ritter mini grip is that you're spending 100 dollars on a folder with a FRN handle. Some people really like FRN because it's light, while others feel that it looks and feels cheap. If you're going to spend $50 dollars more for different steal and blade shape over a mini-grip (the blade shape and steal in the normal mini are perfectly fine) then you might want to consider other Benchmade or Spyderco offerings that cost a little more and have different handle materials. Or you might want to buy both a BM mini-grip and a cricket for about the same price.

In the end it's all comes down to a matter of what works for you. I'm in love with my Caly 3 (a locking version of the UK pen knife that was mentioned above) and don't see it leaving my front pocket anytime soon. It's just perfect for me.
