The Griptilian is the king of utility. Looking to pick a Ritter up and I'm not sure if I should go with the mini or the full size. I haven't had a full size grip in a while. I'm not looking for anything "tactical" really. The 908 Stryker or may be an option as well.

What do you vote?

In my opinion, the mini is much more usable for EDC - great size, friendlier looking, easier to carry in the pocket, and more legally acceptable in more places. Mini all the way!

I voted mini ritter. But..... Your statement may be alittle more open then just full size or mini ritter. Me personally I stick to mini anything, 3" blade or less. I'm 99% urban carry so it works. Now on the issue of models. My top dog is the 556 (I have a few), love the finer tip also the saber grind (wich give me a nice amount of blade stock), love the 556 so much Im considering a custom with s30v. The Ritter 558(have one)is a true slicer with its high flat grind, just leaves me wanting a more narrow tip. The mini Ritter is a close second for me (I know I'm in the minority here). Now on the subject of the Stryker. I was tempted by the 903 but held off due to 2 things. I think for a black class it should have an upgraded steel, and lot of people have voiced their displeasure with the hump in the foward top of the scales. I still kinda have an itch for the 903 and maybe one day I will scratch it.

I like and respect the full size Grip, but I really love the mini.

Benchmade, if you're reading, we would all really like to see both sizes with G10 scales!

Fixed it for you.. :D

BMC, you know my preference :D That said, a couple weeks ago I fondled a full size at the local Sportsmans Warehouse store, and for some reason didn't get the unpleasant feelings I had gotten before when looking at the full size.
One thing that will never sway me towards the full size is, I have been carrying a BM Mini Grip and 705 clipped in my watch pocket for probably about 18 years now. It would be hard to switch to carrying in a different spot, and I don't think carrying a full size in the watch pocket would be as secure as it is with the mini...

I think I may just buy both. The mini to EDC and the full size to carry occasionally and use outdoors.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I've owned the 903 and the hump didn't really bother me much. But what did bother me was the pocket clip. The 908 blade shape just seems small compared to the handle in the pics atleast.

Good point and maybe strike 3; oddball clip screw configuration.

I agree with the proponents of the mini in most aspects like: friendlier, easier to carry, etc. but if that’s all we’re talking about it’s a “slam dunk.” I have both Ritters and like them both but there’s something about the full size that speaks…defensive tool, tough duty multi-tasking cutter. Yes, there are knives that can better handle those tasks, but the comparison is between the Ritter mini and full size.
For me I’d rather carry the larger for just “kickin' around” and the mini for socializing where the carry is a tad more comfortable and a bit more concealed.
So my vote is for the full size. I just have a penchant for larger knives.

There's nothing wrong with the mini version; problem is I can't get my four fingers on the thing, which leaves the pinkie (strange word...) hanging off. I voted for the larger full version which is more comfortable in use.

Mini all the way!! I am a sub 3" guy through and through.. in my opinion, the 3" can do just about anything that a 3.5" can do.. plus it carries so much better, especially with a deep carry clip..

i too prefer larger blades. i can't see any reason to go mini unless legalities require it. of course you could just buy both!

The Ritter. The mini feels like the key fob for car doors. Gets lost in the palm.
The standard Grip fits perfectly in the palm.

I posted "Other" because since the first release I have had both sizes. Like the OP I could not choose either so I bought both.
The Mini took first run and was EDCd for about 5 years, then one day I wanted a bit bigger knife/handle and I swapped to the full sized that has held the #1 EDC position for about another 5 years. The Mini went back for a spa-day at Life Sharp and came back looking almost brand new.

The Mini is a full liner and feels very solid for its size.
The full size offers a bigger blade and handle without really any added weight. Some say the handle feels hollow and cheap however I think it is a perfect handle for a fairly hard-use folder. You can run the handle over with a car and it had tremendous grip, the whole package is both strong and light. I have switched my S30V full sized to custom handles only to make them feel and look a bit more fancy and I may switch one back to stock.

My new Full size M390 is staying with stock handles for now. Not sure if I will get a m390 Mini since I recently bought and 485 and an HK 14716, but you never know.

I wish Doug would do a special run of upgraded handle versions, G-10 or something.

Both are great values.

That's really a matter of opinion, and that isn't a Ritter, anyway. :D In any case, you're further tilting the odds by illustrating your post with one of the G10 Grips, which to date have only been available from Benchmade in the full-size version. It makes a huge difference, and I'd really like to see the Mini version available from Benchmade with G10 scales.
