Ritter RSK-1

Ritter is a retard IMO. Hes concerned with the dumbest things when it comes to survival. He cares nothing about acutally doing it hes more of a armchair survivalist. I dont think hes ever been in the woods! All he talks about is knives and how its the most important item you can have. His #1 rule in flying is that you have a knife:confused:. If were talking bailing out in alaska you might need more than that... That said im sure his knife is alright but theirs better out their for sure.

His knife seems very well thought out for most survival tasks . The overall weight and size are just about perfect for EDCing so you are highly likely to have it with you, which was his plan !
I think the choice in steel is pretty good if you are wanting a stainless blade.
My only reservation is the cost.....is it really worth that much more than a standard Griptillian ?
And when you also think that I picked this custom Nessmuk up for $95 it kinda makes the Ritter look expensive...

I like his stuff. I've bought a bivvy sack and a three or four of his personal survival kits. I've read the reviews he did on a bunch of other commercial PSK's. I gather he's an active bush pilot, and I've killed quite a few quality hours on equippedtosurvive.com, so I guess I'm a big fat retard too, IYO.

Well, it is a folder = nothing to rely on in a survival situation.
I can give you lots of ideas on better knives if you want it for survival/bushcraft.

I would go for the Fallkniven F1, WM1, S1, H1 etc. A WM1 in a neck sheath is better than the RSK. A F1 is even better.
If a folder was the best survival knife then knives like the JPSK, F1, ASEK types would be old school.
Well, I use a FK U2 as an EDC. I also carry a F1 and a folding saw in my pack and a WM1 in my emergency box.

Well, buy the fancy pancy folder, but as with all things you should know what you are carrying.

Good luck.

Sorry I was thinking you were talking about the fixed blade, I know next to nothing about folders as I don't really trust anything with moving parts if I'm gonna need it to survive so on this topic I'll butt out !!!!

I've looked each of his knives and they are indeed well thought out. The designs are refinements of Benchmade workhorses that are already expertly designed. But simple refinements might not justify the cost to you. I really like his fixed Grip design but $165 is too much for me; so I'll seek it on the used market.

Trying to talk you in:
* Best blade geometry of all Griptilians and most other Benchmades
* S30V steel delivers best combination of wear resistance, toughness and stain resistance of all "super-steels"
* High resale value if you get "buyer's remorse"
* Money back guarantee from the online retailer and lifetime warranty from Benchmade

Trying to talk you out:
* Price a little too high
* Full size folder still doesn't have full-length liners (I think Mini does, though)
* Other models that might deliver more for you: 940, 710 or 520

Pitdog, that's a nice custom. Who made it and in what kind of steel? I also liked your PSK setup shown in another thread; got a link for how you built it?

Bought the standard size folder, then the mini version, then the fixed blade. Fixed blade was okay, but I would like it in tool steel, and have told Ritter as much. I have recently gotten rid of all of my smaller folders, except for my small Sebenza micarta, so the Ritter mini was the next to go. I am thinking about getting rid of my other tactical folders and just keeping my Sebs and SNG. I will be definitely keeping my Military and Ritter Grip. If this was available in M2 still, I would get that one over S30V. The S30V has not presented any problems to me, but that is my opinion.

Don't wanna highjack the thread bro but the Knifes made by Dan Koster and the kit was made up with the wisdom of Cody Lundin( 98.6 degrees - the art of keeping your ass alive).

The Rsk1 is a "customized" BM Griptilian. I think it's a fine knife though, like PitManDog, I don;t want a folder to "survive" with....I want a fixed blade.

Doug Ritter might be a retard, I don;t know him well enough to deny it, but I know enough about him to say: If he is, I probably am one too. Thanks Subaru for waking me up! It's my daughter's birthday and we're going out this afternoon to practice some "retard" survival skills! ((( :D )))

One more thing: "retard" Doug Ritter has been around for quite some time and has attended and participated in many suvival events. I have yet to hear anyone else call him a retard or refer to him as someone who doesn;t know what he's doing. I guess I am now enlightened with new information.

(Sorry to hijack)

Doug Ritter is also behind Knife Rights -- the knife knuts equivalent to the NRA -- click on the link in my signature for information. We can't carry knives for survival if we can't carry knives.

I don't know about anybody else, but I'm really getting sick of all these insults. People can disagree and still be civil about it. Let's try being a little more adult.

Doc
