Hi all,
A year ago I posted a question whether River City sheaths is still in business....that I'd sent a knife and hadn't heard from Mike. On the forum he said no problem, the sheath and knife would be delivered as ordered.
That was a year ago. No knife, no sheath, no Mike.
I wish I'd read old posts of this forum, it seems I'm not the only one to have a problem with non-delivery and non-communication. Buyer beware. If I lived near Ohio, I'd go have a little face time with him.

Is that the same River City Sheaths that is owned by Mike Sastre?

I ask, because I googled River City Sheaths and that was the first hit.

Mike is still true to form. Ordered a Cold Steel Laredo Bowie in one of his Southern Comfort sheaths 14 July. He promised it was two weeks away on three different occasions. I ended up getting my money back through PayPal's dispute process today after filing two weeks ago. Mike never responded to their emails.

I have 4 southern comfort sheaths made at River City Sheaths by Mike,
Yes they took sometime to arrive but it was expected since as far as I know , it's a one man shop with many orders to complete and all things included in a business are handled by himself.
I'm sorry to read that your orders were not completed as expected but I wouldn't hesitate to send my blade to him when I get another one that needs a perfect sheath .

I think July to October with only three emails shows a lack of customer service, especially after requiring payment in advance. I would never send him one of my blades.

mike contributes once in awhile on the cold steel forum, maybe elsewhere, but i see him on there from time to time

did anyone pm him here to let him know this thread is going on?

Hey I like Mike, and his work, when he completes it is spectacular. However, as a businessman he fails to meet the grade for acceptable service. I emailed him often, PM'd him here and on the CS Forum and rarely got an answer. When I did get one it was "Your sheath is next"......"Couple more weeks". Before I started the PP action against him I emailed him and PM'd him an got no response. PP requires an email and a several week wait for a response before elevating to a dispute. He never responded to the PP email. It went to dispute and the deadline passed without a response.

There are numerous posts in this forum over the years complaining about his long delivery and poor communications. I would never trust him with an blade important to me and will never again pay another maker, knife, sheath, or other upfront.
