On July 20 Mike Sastre of River City Sheaths e-mailed me in reference to my contacting him about making a sheath for a BM - 42. The e-mail I received from him or someone using his name gave a price of $43 for making a kydex sheath with two belt fastners. I mailed check to River City Sheaths on July 21, 2004. The check was cashed on July 29, 2004. I have received no responces to my e-mails or by calling the phone listing (513-868-9680) for River City Sheaths.
I sincerely hope that no one else get's ripped off.

You should post this over in GBU.

I do not know who the hell RCS is or who they are associated with, or where they get off... But AMEN to 'Hawaiian's suggestion'....

ps{Anyone looking for a custom KYDEX sheath, should go directly to www.dozierknives.com and scroll down on the LEFT hand side of the page to get the BEST damn custom sheath for ANY knife money can buy, in this good old USA...}

Abundant Blessings,

Yes, it should go to GB&U so that the entire membership of bf.c can see it. I'll copy it there.

I have had several dealings with Mike and have found him to be excellent to deal with. His work is truly first class. I remember him telling me one time that he is out of the country some times for a month or so. I am fairly certain you will come out OK on this. Keep us posted.

Guys, I have owned an example of a River City sheaht, I sold it with the knife as the knife was way small for my hands, but the Concealex was pretty sweet work. I was sorry to sell the knife I really liked the sheath.

That said, and I am aware Mike Sastre has some ardent supporters, for something like a sheath it is not right to cash a check and then disappear sans any sort of contact or turn time.

I would hope that upon his return to the real world Mr Sastre contacts you and gives you suitable explanation as well as handles your order promptly.

I have no idea what has transpired but I can say that Mike's sheaths are the BEST I have seen made of Kydex or Concealex.

I'm sure that this issue will be resolved and I can tell you from 30+ years of collecting this 'stuff' that the 30 days, or so, that have passed since you sent your check in, is a 'walk in the park'..........;) There is going to be a wait with any custom product. Were you given a delivery date? Did you ask for one?

I'm not making excuses for anyone, it's always nerve wracking when I can't get a response, but from past experience you will be taken care of.

Keep us posted..... :)

i have 10-15 sheaths by him.he is sometimes hard to contact & you some times wait ,but it is always worth it .i am sure you will hear something or get it soon.

I've known Mike a lotta years. Yes he does get busy with work/life stuff and yes he may not always be the most communicative but I really doubt he has "ripped off" your $43. His Concealex smelting is as good as it gets and I hope your order is completed soon.
Stay Safe,
Clyde
