Well I'm new to the forum so please bear with we.
You have probably been asked before but I was wanting an opinion on a good river knife.
Should I go with one of the Gerbers? blunt or point?
I do alot of wading in rivers and wanted something to attach to my fly vest, also stainless would be preferred.

I fly-fish and kayak in the gulf and used a blunt tip river shorty ALL the time. Sure, the handle is not comfy, and it's not the latest greatest steel, but it never rusted and never failed. I abused it alot and it always looked new. Too bad I lost it. I do recommend it, though.

I wade in the inlet some and do a lot of fishing in and around salt-water. Usually I have one-hand busy when I need my knife. I carry a Benchmade Mini-Reflex (2500 I think). It is the best I have found. Before I bought the Reflex, I used a Benchmade Balisong in stainless and chrome. But, of course, I eventually dropped it out of my pocket and lost it. It was more salt-water resistant than the reflex and had a bit heavier blade, but, I now am attached to the reflex more than that ole bali that served me so well. It draws less attention than the bali and it has a pocket-clip, so, hopefully I won't lose it. If you can't have an auto-opener or balisong, I would recommend sticking with something cheaper like a Buck Cross-lock I have had good results with one I take when I am wanting to be PC, like to the court-house.
