Where are all of you knife makers getting your rivet material?

Also what is the best material to use for a silver colored rivet?

Most knifemaker suppliers sell rivets, pin stock, tubing, corby bolts, screws and standoffs, and other assorted fasteners for handles and other stuff.
Nickel silver or stainless are your main choices for silver-colored pins/rivets.

We use alot of 3/16" brass or stainless pin stock and just cut to length. there are tons of knife suppliers that have pins, tubing, and other methods of fastening handles, more than most commercial hardware stores have. Most in the trade prefer to support the specific knifemaker suppliers.:D

Monel metal brazing rods make superior pin stock. Also brass from MSC or other like suppliers. Also for steel pins, aproppriate with a patined CS blade, very low-carbon NAILS make great pin stock. Just make a note of your drill bits and head to the Hardware Store with you Micrometer/Dial caliper; .02 under is perfect. Nails are a very ductile material to facilitate rapid mass production.

ACE hardware carries rivets of most types. If you can't buy them easily, I like to use grade 8 or Ti bolts and cut them about a mm above the handle, then take a large punch and dent the center. It causes the bolt to mushroom and makes a rivet. You have to wack the thing with a lot of force tho, just be careful you don't slip and hit your handle. I ONLY do that on metal handled knives too.
