I used to have a difficult time setting hollow rivets in handles. I made this tool last week, it worx Bee-Yoo-Tee-Full!!! The pic w/ ball bearings is what I used to use, It was kinda hard holding the knife just right between the B.B.Base and the flaring punch to get it started, then hold it between the two 1" ball bearings to finish the 'set'.
Now I just hold it down on the 1/2" inset B.B. on the base, and the guide holds the 1st flaring tool to start the flare, then the 2nd flaring tool finish sets it... I don't know what angle they are so don't ask, it just looked right so I tried it and it works pretty darn good!
I hope you can see 'em OK...

P.S. I also chamfer the inside of the rivet b4 I start so it easier to flare. That handle AIN"T coming off accidentally!

That looks nice and hefty. Do you use a hammer to set the rivets, or some other method?

Just a hammer, In the 4th pic you can see the hammer head. I think it's a 10oz hammer.

BTW, This guy walks into the toolroom and says "I need a 16oz hammer" the toolroom attd. says "we don't have a 16oz hammer" then the guy says "I need a Monkey Wrench" the toolroom guy says "How big?" the guy says "I don't care, whichever one weighs 16oz"...
BaDaBing!!!
