Guys,

how do you do Busse style handle with rivets? What kind of tubing is it?

Thanks,

I think it's annealed tube that's been swaged with some spherical die or something like that,

There are special hand presses made specifically for this kind of job.
Most come with various standard types of dies, but manufacturing special dies is very easy with a small lathe.

It is done with a flaring tool. You chuck it in the drill press. (You can easily make one from round stock). There is another one on the bottom to hold the alignment and make the flares tight. Go slow and from side to side to avoid breaking the scale.

I didn't think of the drill press...
Sometimes you use a tool always the same way just because you've always used it that way... that makes you blind to other possibilities... :p

Seems to me that it would likely be done on an arbor press, but a drill press would give it nice rolled out look.

If you cut a rounding shoulder in the flaring tool it will roll the shoulder nicely. It also burnishes it .

That tutorial just came about a half hour too late:( I was looking for my double flaring tool to do the job but I cant find it.I'll bet with some mods I can make a nice double, double flaring tool!
